Without A Sound by Speech Patterns

Favorite Tracks: Didn't Need A Reason, High Regard, Numb

Speech Patterns are a rock/post-hardcore band from Florida. Their debut record, "Without A Sound," was released on August 18th, 2017.

The strong opening track "Didn't Need A Reason" shows off the emotion in the singer's voice and his range very well. It's a more melodic song for the most part except for the screaming in the bridge. "High Regard" is softer at first but the pre-chorus and chorus pick things up a bit. The bass and guitar seem to be more prominent on this track in particular. In "Deja Vu," the guitars are softer for the majority of the song, but during the bridge, things get more hard-hitting.

The debut single "Numb" shows the vocalist's range very well throughout the entire song. "Relapse" is softer at first but transitions into a harder rock song. With lyrics like "Self buried six feet underground, we won't be there when it all comes around to find your own way out" and more screaming towards the end of the track, it's safe to say this is another hard-hitting and emotional one.

"Disappear" continues that soft to hard-hitting pattern with some piano and orchestral elements at the end to mix things up a bit. The closing track "One and the Same" picks the pace back up a bit and has a strong chorus that I really think was the highlight of the track.

This was a record I had anticipated ever since I heard "Numb" for the first time and I thought that overall, it was pretty good.
