Young The Giant bring the Heat of The Summer to Marymoor Park.

Young The Giant

August 4th, 2019 - Marymoor Park - Redmond, WA

This summer Californian indie rock band Young the Giant brought their North American summer tour to the Pacific Northwest along with support from Fitz and the Tantrums and COIN. Thousands of eager fans of all ages showed up to the outdoor music venue, Marymoor Park to catch performances from their favorite bands and soak up some Vitamin D on a hot summer day. With a song titled “Heat of the Summer” the weather and concert venue made for what was the perfect concert setting for Young The Giant in just outside of the city of Seattle.

After two exceptional performances from opening bands Fitz and the Tantrums and COIN it was finally time for Young the Giant to take the stage. By the time the Californian band took the stage the venue was packed to its maximum capacity with lively fans eager to see the band perform new music.

Young The Giant started off their jam filled set with Oblivion, a song off their fourth studio album, Mirror Master that was released in 2018. If you don’t know who popular indie rock band Young The Giant is already they are a band from Irvine, California that consists of five extremely talented musicians who all perform with more than one instrument, this is one of the many unique things that keep the band’s live performance so dynamic and exciting. The band performed a 17 song set list that consisted of old and new songs that kept frontman Sameer Gadhia and fans old and new dancing and singing all night long until crowd favorites such as were played, then the crowd would erupt with energy. Some of the crowd favorites that were performed were older songs such as Cough Syrup and My Body off of their self titled album and newer songs from the past 3 years such as Heat Of The Summer (Mirror Master) and Silver Tongue (Home of The Strange). In terms of production the band kept everything pretty mild up until the bands four song encore when Sameer dazzled fans by coming out on stage in a cape with little shards of mirrors that reflected the lights beaming down on him which was a spectacular sight to see.

The band is currently touring in Europe and will be performing a few shows in America when they get back this fall. If they aren’t coming to a city near you keep an eye on their touring schedule on their website because there show is definitely worth catching if you love indie rock music.
