MxPx sell out Seattle’s final punk rawk show of 2023
Legendary punk band MxPx returned to the Showbox in Seattle for the first time in six years in a room filled with friends, family, and fans of all ages. Following several festival appearances and international tour dates, the Bremerton, Washington band’s highly anticipated show sold out two months in advance.
MxPx self-released their latest album Find A Way Home back in August, and after playing half the album at the show, it’s clear that fans are enjoying the new material as much as the classic songs. The night’s setlist was packed with tracks from throughout the band’s massive discography, going all the way back to 1995’s Teenage Politics and 1997’s Small Town Minds.
The band’s energetic performance (and frontman Mike Herrera’s frequent encouragement) kept everyone moshing, crowd surfing, and singing along throughout their entire performance. There were a few surprises during the show - Jeff Suffering of Ninety Pound Wuss joined on vocals for a couple of the more chaotic MxPx songs, “The Theme Fiasco” and “Fist vs. Tact.” Later on in the set, Herrera invited a young fan on stage to play bass during “Chick Magnet.” After the traditional closer “Punk Rawk Show,” MxPx ended their “New Year’s Eve Eve” show by inviting friends and family on stage and performing their rendition of “Auld Lang Syne.”
MxPx have already announced several tour dates for 2024, beginning with this Saturday’s sold out show at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. While many of these have already sold out, tour dates and tickets can be found at mxpx.com.
