Terminal by Marina City

Marina City is an up-and-coming rock band from Chicago and their fourth EP, Terminal, is set to release next week (8/11), so here’s what you can expect.

The 5 song EP starts off with Man In The Mirror, an upbeat song that plays with the synth-rock sound that will have you dancing within a matter of seconds. Not to mention the lyrics that will get stuck in your head (trust me). It’s the perfect song to start the EP and has you wanting more as it fades into Royalty, a more relaxed song that shows off lead singer Ryan Argast vocals throughout and will have you vibing with the music. It’s one of my personal favorites and as soon as you hear it, I think you’ll understand why.

Now every EP needs a sad song – Better Weather is that song. Now it’s not like the sad song that will bring you to tears (unless you’ve recently gone through a breakup but that’s beside the point) but it’s definitely one that makes you sympathize with it. Besides the fact that it is white sad it’s still one that I’d come back to. You pick right back up with Thieves, which is my favorite musically – it starts off with just piano and drums, an unlikely combo that fits together quite well before you add in the guitar that just pulls everything together. Add in Ryan’s voice and it’s a bop.

Last, but certainly not least, we have Dreamers Never Die. This one is the song I personally think personifies the whole EP, not to mention it’s an anthem for all the dreamers out there. It is the most rock based song on the EP and it’s powerful. If there’s only one song you check out on this EP, it should be this one.

Overall, Marina City is about to release one of the best EP’s this year and they’re not a band to sleep on because these boys have got something and I’m certainly looking forward to what they do next.
