BEAUTY IN DEATH by Chase Atlantic

The first time I heard about Chase Atlantic they were opening for Sleeping With Sirens and were about to release their debut album, 2017’s self titled Chase Atlantic. The initial shock of their “genre” of music was quickly replaced by a deep appreciation for what they were bringing to the table - a mix between the hip-hop and alternative scene. Fast forward to now, the Australian born Los Angeles based group consisting of brothers Mitchel and Clinton Cave and long time friend Christian Anthony, have returned with their latest piece of work, BEAUTY IN DEATH.

The 12 song album brings something fresh to the group's discography. They’ve been known to have rock and hip-hop influences but this time they've added more influences from around the world. With their single OUT THE ROOF you hear the Arabic and Middle Eastern flutes mixed in creating a sound that’s elevating the group to new heights.

With certain tracks (PARANOID, PLEASEXANNY) feeling like a callback to the bands previous album, others feel like a new chapter for the group (SLIDE, I THINK I’M LOST AGAIN, WASTED). You also have the songs that just feel like they were made for those summer drives with your best friends (BEAUTY IN DEATH, MOLLY, CALL ME BACK) that also offer some of my favorite musical moments with the combination of new sounds and their signature saxophone that pulls you in with each note.

The group also has tracks that remind you who you’re listening to - they’ve created a name for themselves by combining hip-hop with alternative and this album offers a taste of what they’re known for to round out their new era (PLEASE STAND BY, ALEYUH, EMPTY).

With the absolute shit show of 2020, Chase Atlantic made the best of the circumstances and came out the other side with some of their best work. I can only hope that we’ll get to see some of these songs live soon but until then I’ll be adding this to my quarantine playlist.

BEAUTY IN DEATH will be released on March 5, 2021 via Fearless Records. Click here to view pre-order details.
