The Disease And Disguise Tour Kicks Off In Seattle
What better way to start off the decade with a sold out show? At the beginning of the year we caught Beartooth and Motionless in White when they kicked off their co-headlining tour, “The Disease and Disguise Tour,” with support from Stick To Your Guns and Nothing Left in Seattle. The two rock bands have both released well received albums in 2019, Beartooth releasing a deluxe edition of their third studio album “Disease” while Motionless In White released their fifth studio album “Disguise.” hence the clever name of the tour. The tour has sold out in a number of cities so stick around and read our review of the show.
The venue was already packed by the time we showed up right before Stick To Your Gun’s set. The crowd responded really well to the band’s eight song setlist, so when the band asked if the crowd if they seen them before and hardly any hands rose it took me a bit by surprise. After an energy filled set by Stick To Your Guns, I’m positive many concert goer’s left the show a new fan.
The first of the headliner’s to perform was Motionless In White, a gothic metalcore band from Pennsylvania. The band has been around since 2005 and has good sized following of dedicated fans. One of the first things you’ll notice when seeing this band live is that they put on a show - with their stage production, outfits, makeup, and dancers their set almost feels like a theatrical performance, and who doesn’t love a band that puts on a good show? Out of the 14 songs that were performed half were from their fifth studio album Disguise which came out on June 7th, 2019. More often than not there’s always a technical difficulty on the first day of tour, and this time it happened to be halfway through Motionless In White’s set when a fire alarm went off. Once every thing was cleared the band came out on stage and began to perform the next song on the setlist which ironically has the lyrics “Lets get this fire started”. Despite the short delay during their set the band pulled off a great performance to start off the tour.
Last to perform was Ohio hardcore punk rock band, Beartooth. Out of all the bands on this lineup Beartooth have been together for the least amount of time only having formed in 2012. The frontman of Beartooth is none other than Caleb Shomo, a musician who was formerly in another well known metalcore band known as Attack, Attack, so while it might feel like they haven’t been around for very long they sure know how to put on a great rock show. Both headliner’s got an hour long performance, during Beartooth’s set the band was able to perform 12 songs that made both old fans and new happy. One of the interesting parts of the band’s performance was when drummer Connor Dennis did a drum solo during Loser that gave the crowd and extra boost of energy halfway during the band’s set.
If you’re a fan of heavier music and are looking for a show to bang your head to and crowd surf (or mosh) to this is definitely a show you should be checking out this year.
