Drake's Aubrey & The Three Migos Tour

What do you get when you mix arguably the biggest rapper in the game right now with a group that grew up 30 miles from the arena? That would be the Aubrey & The Three Migos Tour. On night one of their three sold out shows in Atlanta you could find one of the most anticipated tours and thousands of eager fans ready to see Drake and the Migos.

The night started out with up and coming OVO Sound artist Roy Woods. With over 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify and his collaboration with headliner Drake entitled Drama having over almost 150 million streams you could imagine that were eager fans awaiting to see what the 22 year old rapper/R&B artist was going to bring to the stage. He performed multiple songs off of 2017’s Say Less and even a few older ones before he left the stage.

Migos took the stage next. The trio formed in 2008 about 30 miles from where they were set to play so you could imagine the crowd was anxious to see the hometown boys. They came out with their song Hannah Montana and had every on their feet singing along from the moment they stepped on stage. Adorn in red, green, and yellow jumpsuits the rappers went around the stage hyping up the crowd with both old and new songs. They talked about how good it was to be home and reminisced about their first show in the same arena. The crowd screamed the lyrics to every song and the energy was something else. With songs like Bad & Boujee having the crowd going wild it was easy to see that everyone was excited to have the boys home.

The crowd took time to calm down and get their energy up before the man we were all waiting for arrived. Drake is one of, if not, the most successful rappers of this generation. With all of his albums certified platinum (or higher) and his single God’s Plan being 8x platinum it’s not hard to see that he’s cracked the code to not only the rap game but the music industry as a whole. He started the night with his song 8 Out of 10 and Mob Ties off on 2018’s Scorpion before shifting gears to Started From The Bottom off of 2013’s Nothing Was the Same and Jumpman off of his collaboration album with Future, 2015’s What a Time To Be Alive. The whole room was screaming the lyrics back to him while he ran around the stage engaging every side of the venue. During Energy he was joined on stage by Atlanta’s very own Lil Baby to sing Yes Indeed and Sold Out Dates.

About a quarter way into the show he brought back out Migos who performed all their collaborations including Walk It Talk It and Versace. Just when you thought that it couldn’t get any better they were joined by another familiar face - 21 Savage jumped in and has the crowd screaming his name.  Fans of every age all danced around to songs like One Dance and Controlla (off of 2016’s Views) and being the showman that he is he even had pyrotechnics throughout his show that just added that extra something to his performance. Before he night ends a home video is shown of Drake as a kid all the way up to where he is now. With cameos from close friends Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne making the crowd go crazy it was a nice little sentiment to the journey that Drake’s been on. As soon as the video ends the stage is transformed into the basketball court and his song Nice For What begins. As the night starts drawing to a close he doesn’t slow down as he plays In My Feelings, I’m Upset, Look Alive, Sicko Mode, and Nonstop before he introduces the last surprise of the night. French Montana comes out and they perform their song No Stylist before Drake ends the night with the song everyone had been waiting for God’s Plan. The whole crowd was standing up chanting the lyrics while Drake took a few seconds to take in the moment before he descended under the stage.

It’s not hard to tell that Drake is a one of a kind artist who puts everything into whatever he does - from his music to his live shows. He left the crowd smiling and with memories that they would go home and talk about with their families throughout the holidays. I personally cannot wait to see what comes next and I’m sure the next time he comes to Atlanta will be nothing short of amazing.
