My Chemical Romance return to the PNW

My Chemical Romance have finally made their way back to Washington State after a long hiatus and additionally their tour being delayed twice due to Covid-19. The band’s fans came in full force, some fans even camped out the night before to get a good spot on the barricade and others came decked out in costumes inspired by the band. It was incredible getting to witness over 20,000 fans at the Tacoma Dome sing along to the bands songs live once again, fans even crowd surfed and opened up pretty rowdy mosh pits in the small general admission pit.

My favorite thing about this My Chemical Romance tour is how much the band has been switching up their setlist each night, I haven’t really ever seen a band switch their songs around like they have been doing on this tour and I hope more bands take notes because not only is it less dull for the band’s to not have to perform repetitive sets every night for a month or longer it also is exciting for fans to anticipate which songs will be performed. The only song to stay consistent on the setlist is their opening song “The Foundations of Decay” which was released on May 12th of this year and is the first song they have released after their hiatus. The big crowd favorite songs such as “Teenagers” and “Welcome to the Black Parade” seem to always be on the lineup but when they’ll perform those songs is the real question, this is definitely a concert where you’ll want to use the restroom and get merch or food well before they start and not during the performance.

I think the only complaint anyone would have about this show would be how bad traffic and lines inside the venue got, a lot of fans missed the openers Taking Back Sunday and Kimya Dawson. So if you’re reading this and are from Washington State and ever go to a show at the Tacoma Dome I highly suggest arriving 2 hours before doors to avoid this issue. Beside’s that this show was obviously a concert fans wouldn’t be forgetting for a long time to come. Now we all anxiously wait and hope for a new album and maybe for the chance to see them on tour again some day.
