The Dangerous Summer are floating with their latest release, Gravity

Review by Elliott Kluever

I've been a fan of The Dangerous Summer for years, and I was thrilled to dive into their 8th studio album, Gravity. I was eager to see how they would evolve their sound, all the while holding on to that DS sound we all know and love.

The band has clearly evolved and refined their craft, delivering a record that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking. The songwriting is exceptional, with deeply personal and relatable lyrics, tackling themes of love, loss, and growth with a level of vulnerability that is both impressive and endearing. AJ Perdomo’s vocals are heartfelt and poignant, conveying such a sense of vulnerability and authenticity.

The result is a masterfully crafted emo/pop rock album that is nostalgic and refreshing. From the opening notes of “I Feel More Like Myself When I’m Losing It,” it's clear that the band has put together a marvelous, signature Dangerous Summer album while taking a bold step forward, incorporating new textures and sounds into their signature style.

Gravity’s production is top-notch, with each track mixed and mastered to bring out the best in the band's performance. The guitar work is intricate and engaging, the drums are driving and propulsive, and the vocals are delightfully raw and impassioned. What truly sets Gravity apart is its ability to balance the band's signature emo sensibilities with a more mature and refined approach. The result is an album that is both a nod to their roots and a confident step forward into new territory.

Overall, I highly recommend Gravity to fans of The Dangerous Summer and emo/pop in general. The band's ability to balance nostalgia with innovation is impressive, and Gravity is a testament to their growth and maturity as artists. It's a must-listen for anyone looking for a thoughtful and emotionally resonant album that will stay nestled in your playlist for years to come.

Gravity releases June 21 via Rude Records. You can catch The Dangerous Summer on tour now through July 29th.
