Kick Me by Sleeping With Sirens

“Kick Me” dropped in late December following their announcement of signing with Epitaph Records. The band was previously signed to Rise Records but decided to not renew their contract; they said they left on good terms and just needed a fresh start.

In 2013 the band parted ways with guitarist Jesse Lawson due to his desire to spend time with his family and his own music adventures. The band then recruited Nick Martin to play guitar during the UK/EU run on their “Feel” tour.

Compared to previous SWS albums and singles, this is a huge step for the band. “Kick Me” features a heavier side of the band that fans felt was lost after the bands album, “Feel” which was released back in 2013 via Rise Records.

Controversy arose claiming the band “didn’t sound like themselves” leaving everyone to wonder if Jesse’s departure played a factor. Rock fans felt like the band sounded to much like The Used and not like the Sleeping With Sirens we know and love.

Granted, this is a badass song. From the heavy riffs to the quote-on-quote “angry” lyrics brought by Kellin Quinn. It’s something a lot of fans could probably relate to (the music video even features some lucky fans singing along). Maybe this is the new direction the band is headed in, and maybe that’s not a bad thing.

Whether you love them or hate them, any true rock fan will love this song. Check out the video here and let us know what you think.
