Cry Baby by Melanie Martinez

When Melanie Martinez was voted off The Voice back in 2012, nobody really knew where she was headed. Then, just over a year after her elimination, she returned with Dollhouse, which would eventually become the title track over her EP that featured three new songs.

Now, she's finally released her debut album Cry Baby that features (deluxe) 16 songs that include Dollhouse, Carousal, Pity Party, and more.

Melanie has a unique sound, no doubt about it. She mixes childish things like toys, carnivals, and birthday parties with adult situations like mental issues, crazy stalkers, and even abusive relationships.

The title track Cry Baby introduces the character of an emotional, lovestruck girl who everyone calls Cry Baby. Eventually, it's as if Melanie turns into Cry Baby and begins to tell the story of her crazy life.

It's important to not get so caught up in the theatrics of this album (even though they are amazing and should be greatly appreciated), but instead listen to the lyrics and search for the alternate message each song has to offer.

Needless to say, this album is one of a kind and is a must hear.
