Catfish & The Bottlemen delivers a night to remember in Seattle, WA

British Indie Rock band Catfish & The Bottlemen are currently touring North America in preparation of the release of their latest album ‘The Balance’ which comes out later this month on April 26th. We were lucky enough to catch the band’s first headlining show in Seattle since they played at Barboza in 2015. Fast forward four years and the band is now playing at a much larger crowd at Showbox Sodo along with support from The Worn Flints.

A few hours before the show started, fans who arrived early got the opportunity to catch the band perform an acoustic set thanks to Seattle’s Alternative Rock radio station 107.7 The End. The band’s short acoustic set gave the fans a decent dose of what was to come later on in the night.

Ohio psych trio, The Worn Flints from Columbus started off the night with a surprisingly energetic performance. Singer and guitarist Kenny Stiegele seemed to be having the time of his life while performing. The band performed music from their recently released LP, ‘Gloria Avenue’ as well as some older songs as well. Although a majority of the crowd didn’t know the band’s music, it wasn’t hard to spot fans dancing and jamming along to the songs.

As soon as the lights dimmed and a giant toucan lit up I could feel the energy in the room rise quickly as fans started cheering loudly. Fans were thrilled when the band started off their energizing set with Longshot, the opening track and first single off their upcoming album, The Balance which featured a toucan sipping out of a can as the album artwork. The energy in the room never seemed to diminish at any point of the 16 songs they performed. The band performed an array of their discography performing 8 songs from The Balcony, and 4 songs from both The Balance and The Ride. The most noticeable energy coming from the stage was from vocalist and guitarist, Van McCann who used every inch of the stage possible and would connect with the enthusiastic fans, he even occasionally did tricks with his microphone stand! The best part about this band is that they sound better live than in studio!

This show was everything a rock show should be... energetic, loud, and crazy! If you’re a fan of their music I highly suggest you see them live. The band recently finished the first part of their North American tour this April but will be back this summer to perform some shows on the east coast.  The band is touring all over the world, and will even be performing in Japan later this year!
