Cage The Elephant’s Neon Pill Tour

On the first Saturday of the summer season, thousands of music lovers gathered at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. The lineup for the evening featured four gripping performances from Alternative rock artists: Cage The Elephant, Young The Giant, Bakar, and Willow Avalon.

Each artist had their own creative stage design, however one of the most distinct designs of the night was Bakar’s enormous glowing ramp that the British artist performed from throughout their set.

The venue was nearly filled with concertgoers by the time the last of the opening acts took the stage. Californian rockers, Young The Giant gave a captivating performance totaling 13 songs. The sea of concert attendees were enchanted as the band moved through their set list. Many sang along loudly to the band’s classic crowd favorite songs “Cough Syrup” and “My Body,” both of which were released 14 years ago.

The anticipation soared as the crowd eagerly waited for the final band of the night to take the stage. As the clock struck 9:25 it was finally showtime for the spirited musicians in Cage The Elephant. The arena erupted with thunderous cheers the moment the lights dimmed signaling the start of the band's headlining performance.

The Kentucky band started off the night strong with their exuberant performance of “Broken Boy.” Flames blasted off while vocalist Matt Shultz fearlessly leapt around the stage, while guitarist and brother Brad Shultz took a different approach and headed down to the barricade to get up close with the crowd during their opening song.

As the band powered through their 80 minute set, the crowd grooved along to the dynamic music. Many fans belted out the lyrics to the band’s most popular songs like “Cigarette Daydreams” and “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked.” With a discography spanning over 18 years, the band must have had a tough decision of choosing only 21 songs to perform.

Just last month in May the band released their sixth studio album Neon Pill which features some of their best music to date. With this summer tour being called the Neon Pill tour, the band's decision to only implement four new songs into the set was a bit shocking. However, the songs that were showcased were remarkable. One of the songs that stood out most was their uplifting song “Rainbow” which illuminated the arena with rainbow visuals above the crowd.

Shout out to the band’s special effects team, Strictly FX who managed to create a classic rock show atmosphere with fire and lasers in such a synchronized and captivating way. For example, during “Shake Me Down,” they managed to quickly create a cloudy atmosphere in the indoor venue the moment the band got to the lyrics “Even on a cloudy day” with the help of laser and smoke machines.

Almost 20 years into their legendary musical career, Cage The Elephant still manages to deliver such passionate performances. The summer tour just freshly kicked off in Salt Lake City and will be hitting arenas and amphitheaters across North America all summer long! This tour is perfect for anyone who loves rocking out.
